DESCRIPTION:Jenni Sorkin\, author of Live Form: Women\, Ceramics and Community (University of Chicago Press) will speak about her scholarship focusing on the intersection between gender\, material culture\, and contemporary art. \nSorkin was also co-curator of Revolution in the Making: Abstract Sculpture by Women\, 1947–2016 at Hauser Wirth and Schimmel in Los Angeles. \nSorkin holds a B.F.A. from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago\, an M.A. from the Center for Curatorial Studies\, Bard College\, and a Ph.D. from Yale University. \nThis event is supported in part by the Newcomb Art Department and the Sandra Garrard Memorial Fund for Recent Trends in Contemporary Art.
