SUMMARY:Uncommon Exchanges: Clay
DESCRIPTION:in partnership with A Studio in the Woods\, The ByWater Institute at Tulane University\, and New Orleans Center for the Gulf South\, Newcomb Art Museum is pleased to introduce a new interdisciplinary conversation series\, “Uncommon Exchanges\,” that invites the New Orleans community to interact with diverse experts from Tulane and the Gulf South region. With the arts as a catalyst\, these unique conversations bridge different disciplines and expertise to workshop new kinds of questions and establish commonalities\, encouraging unexpected dialogues in a safe\, intimate\, and playful space. \nIn the inaugural program\, Rebecca Snedeker\, Clark Executive Director\, New Orleans Center for the Gulf South will moderate the exchange between Prof. Emilia Oddo of the classics department at Tulane University and Prof. Mead Allison of The Water Institute of The Gulf as they use Newcomb Art Museum’s current exhibitions focused on clay as a catalyst for conversation. Q&A with audience members will take place after. The discussion will be held in the museum and will last around 45 minutes with 15 minutes of Q&A time at the end for audience engagement. \nBoth New Orleans and Tulane communities are encouraged to attend and take advantage of this opportunity to engage with academics\, artists\, and activists in a variety of fields.
