Jenni Sorkin – Material Decisions: Women, Process, and Form

Jenni Sorkin, author of Live Form: Women, Ceramics and Community (University of Chicago Press) will speak about her scholarship focusing on the intersection between gender, material culture, and contemporary art.

Sorkin was also co-curator of Revolution in the Making: Abstract Sculpture by Women, 1947–2016 at Hauser Wirth and Schimmel in Los Angeles.

Sorkin holds a B.F.A. from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, an M.A. from the Center for Curatorial Studies, Bard College, and a Ph.D. from Yale University.

This event is supported in part by the Newcomb Art Department and the Sandra Garrard Memorial Fund for Recent Trends in Contemporary Art.
