Film Series: The Universe of Keith Haring

October 15, 2015 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

- FREE

In conjunction with A Shared Space: KAWS, Karl Wirsum, and Tomoo Gokita, the museum is presenting a three-part film series.

The Universe of Keith Haring, directed by Christina Clausen, is a 2008 documentary exploring the life and work of one of the world’s most popular and significant artists of the 20th century. The film offers an affectionate and deeply personal glimpse into Haring’s life, from his early years growing up in a small Pennsylvania town to his heyday as a world-renowned artist, rubbing shoulders with the likes of Madonna, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Yoko Ono and Andy Warhol, to his AIDS-related death at 31. His extensive body of work—ranging from paintings to sculpture to subway murals—can still be seen worldwide, and his influence on the ’80s New York art community remains an important piece of history.

Introductions and post screening discussion with William Morrow, Curator and Coordinator of Academic Affairs.
