Get creative with the whole family!
This Saturday, all ages are invited to swing by the Newcomb Art Museum for a free family art workshop inspired by their latest exhibition, Unfamiliar Again: Contemporary Women Abstractionists. The exhibition features work by women artists from across the United States as they explore new ways of approaching abstraction.
From 11:30 am to 1 pm, the museum will play host to a family-friendly workshop where budding artists of all-ages will have the opportunity to create their own abstract masterpieces using collage work, colored pencils, cut paper and more. Kids and parents alike are encouraged to engage with the exhibition through a movement based scavenger hunt where you get to be the art! Story time will feature books encouraging children that anyone who wants to be an artist, can be an artist (with a little paint and a whole lot of imagination!)
This come-and-go workshop allows children and parents to explore the museum in a welcome and fun environment plus creates an opportunity for everyone, no matter your level of experience, the chance to create their own abstract masterpiece to be hung on the fridge or framed on the wall!
Free and open to the public. The event is come and go, drop-ins encouraged!
