Plan Your Vote

Newcomb Art Museum has partnered with PLAN YOUR VOTE, a 2020 Visual Arts Initiative from vote.org that harnesses the power of art to promote and encourage citizens to exercise their right to vote.

Up through Election Day, November 3, 2020 the museum will be sharing new artwork that engages voters across our social media feeds as well as sharing information on how to vote.

Additionally, the museum is currently hosting an Open Call for all Tulane students (no matter your year or major) to submit artwork that encourages your fellow students to vote. Selected pieces will be shared on this site and across our social media feeds. You can submit your work in a square .jpg format to museum@tulane.edu between now and November 2.

Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, 2020.
The deadline to register online to vote is Tuesday, October 13, 2020.
The deadline for registering by mail to vote is (postmarked by) Monday, October 5, 2020.
The deadline to register in person to vote is Monday, October 5, 2020.
The deadline to request a ballot by mail is (received by) Friday, October 30, 2020.
The early voting period runs from Tuesday, October 20, 2020 to Tuesday, October 27, 2020, but dates and hours may vary based on where you live.

Key Voting Facts

Over 100 million eligible Americans did not vote in the 2016 General Election.

In 2018, just 36% percent of 18-29 year olds cast ballots, an all time high for a midterm. (Pew)

In the November General Election, 1 out of 10 eligible voters will be a part of Gen Z (Pew)

Naturalized citizens will make up ~10% of the nation’s electorate this year – 23m + voters. (Pew)

Young people, people of color, and women will make up 64% of the electorate this year. (VPC)

US is ranked 26th out of 32 OECD countries for voter turnout (Pew)
